ALC’s aDifference Advisory Team recognized the efforts of, Zach Weimer, as June’s aDifference in Action awardee. “I nominated Zach because he’s such a great example. His positive attitude is a contagious, His extra effort and dedication towards work is admirable, and he’s always looking to make a difference!” – Desmond Paulson.

1. How did you get involved with ALC?

I was referred to ALC by my good friend, Blake Smith. He and I had worked together previously. As soon as he joined ALC he began sharing with me how much he enjoyed being a part of ALC and that I needed to join him. As I went through the process of learning more about ALC and interviewed with John, Dave, and Brad, I knew that becoming part of the ALC team was the right decision for myself – both professionally and personally.

2. What advice would you give people who want to get involved in their own community?

Find a way to get involved that incorporates something you love to do or care about. If you are interested, using your developed knowledge, and are emotionally invested, then working hard becomes much easier and you are more likely to make a significant contribution.

3. Do you have a favorite quote or motto? (Could be from ALC team member, tv show, book, etc.)

“Fate whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand the storm.’ The warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.’” I learned this saying from Brad. It has proven to be helpful on projects, this year in particular. I like the combination of calm, fierceness, and self-belief.
