ALC’s aDifference Advisory Team proudly recognizes Gladis Thompson – Routing and Optimization Director – as December’s aDifference in Action Award recipient. “To this day, I can never stop thinking about everything she has taught me. Whether it is something relating to Rhapsody, my level of productivity, or my communication style. I am continuing to go back to the basics and think about ways to improve,” – ALC Account Coordinator, Dyna Rin.

Way to go, Gladis!

1. How long have you been with ALC? What have been some of your favorite moments with the company so far?

I’ve had the privilege of being part of the ALC family now for 15 years. However, it feels like it was just yesterday when I was walking into the office with my 9 month old in his car seat. I was excited, but nervous to make the move to Saint George for this job offer. Little did I know of the opportunities that would lay in front of me.

I was happy to be closer to home, but I didn’t know it would be hard working under my brother. He pushed me and expected more out of me. I’d always looked up to him and tried to work as hard as he did. Now, I don’t know how to step away.

Some of my favorite memories with the company have been making the impossible possible. We’ve have had quite a few fun times, [such as] making a difference and impacting the families we touch through their journey with ALC.

If there is a way, we will figure it out to make it work.

2. What is a favorite quote that inspires you and why?

“Tough times do not last, tough teams do.” This quote hits close to home, especially this year. It has been one of the most fast paced years in ALC history.

Every day we are making history. Every student, every exclusion date, and every update that comes to my team. Every day we are stronger as a unit. Despite everyone being remote, the unity and heart of the team is in the same place.

We all want to do our best and be team players. Tough teams will overcome any obstacle.

4. Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I’m honored and blessed to be nominated. I owe all my success to the amazing team and great leaders who have had mentored me along the way.

My team – the MIGHTYRO – are the true heroes making the magic happen across the nation, one student at a time.
